Broker bonuses in Germany

42 bonuses we have verified as available to traders in Germany.

Germany is one of the largest retail trading markets in Europe, but it is also one of the most tightly regulated. If you trade from Germany, the bonus you see advertised on a broker's global homepage is often not the bonus you are allowed to claim. The reason is not the broker being difficult. It is the law.

Below is a plain explanation of which bonuses reach German traders, which ones do not, and what to check before you sign up. The list further down shows only the offers we have researched that a German resident can realistically access.

Which bonuses you can claim

BaFin forbids brokers from using bonuses to encourage retail clients into CFDs. Its General Administrative Act bans monetary and non-monetary incentives alike: account-opening bonuses, deposit matches, trading-fee discounts, volume rebates and refer-a-friend rewards are all off the table for CFD accounts. On top of that, the ESMA product-intervention rules that Germany applies cap leverage, enforce negative balance protection and require standard risk warnings.

The practical effect: a broker regulated in Germany or elsewhere in the EU cannot legally offer you a forex or CFD deposit bonus. Most of the big deposit-match and no-deposit forex promotions you find online are aimed at clients outside the EU and will exclude Germany in the fine print.

The ban is specific to CFDs. Sign-up rewards from crypto exchanges and free-share offers from stock brokers are different products under different rules, so a smaller set of those can still reach German traders. Those are the offers worth your attention here.

Who regulates trading in Germany

  • Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) bafin.de ↗

Germany's financial regulator. Its General Administrative Act on CFDs sets the bonus and leverage rules for retail clients.

Trading in Germany

Local currency: EUR

German retail traders tend to favour brokers with strong oversight and clear withdrawal terms over headline bonus size, which fits a market where the largest bonuses are illegal anyway. The euro is the account currency for most local accounts, and tax on trading gains is handled through the Abgeltungsteuer, so keep records of any bonus that does become withdrawable.

If a broker offers you a forex or CFD bonus while claiming to be EU-regulated, treat it as a red flag. Either the offer is not really available to you, or the entity behind it is not the regulated one. Check which legal entity holds your account before depositing.

Frequently asked questions

Are forex bonuses legal in Germany?
No, not for retail CFD and forex accounts. BaFin's General Administrative Act bans brokers from offering bonuses or other incentives to retail clients trading CFDs, so an EU-regulated broker cannot give you one.
Why does a broker advertise a bonus I cannot claim?
Global broker sites show the same promotion everywhere, then exclude restricted countries in the terms. The offer is usually aimed at clients outside the EU. Always read the eligibility clause before depositing.
Can I still get any broker bonus as a German trader?
Yes, but in narrower categories. The CFD bonus ban does not cover stock free-share offers or crypto exchange sign-up rewards, so a smaller set of those can still be available. The list on this page shows the offers we have verified for Germany.
How do I check a broker is properly regulated in Germany?
Look up the entity in BaFin's company database at bafin.de. Confirm the exact legal entity that will hold your account is the licensed one, not just the brand name on the homepage.
