The catch

Interest is credited to the cash account around the 1st of the following month and can be withdrawn like any other balance. Rate and eligible balance cap can change at any time.

How to claim

  1. Open a Trade Republic account and complete identification.
  2. Deposit cash into your account.
  3. Leave the balance uninvested. Interest is credited monthly.

Full review

Trade Republic pays interest on the uninvested cash in your account. The German page showed 2.5% p.a. on 2026-10-08, up from 2.0% earlier in 2026, and the Austrian page showed 3% p.a. Interest is calculated daily on the end-of-day balance and credited at the start of the following month. Third-party guides say the old 50,000 EUR cap no longer applies, but Trade Republic's own wording says the maximum interest-bearing amount depends on country and account type and is shown in the app.

The catch is that the rate is variable and not guaranteed. It tracks ECB policy rates and has been changed several times: 4% in early 2024, 3.75% from June 2024, then 2.0% by spring 2026 and 2.5% now. It is not a welcome offer, just the standing rate for everyone. Cash is held at partner banks, and higher balances can also sit in money market funds that are not covered by statutory deposit insurance. In February 2025 the Verbraucherzentrale Baden-Wuerttemberg sued Trade Republic over allegedly misleading claims about this interest and the protection of customer cash, so read the deposit-protection wording in the app.

Eligibility: residents of Trade Republic's contract countries. The 2.5% is verified for the German site only.
