Crypto sign-up bonuses

Crypto exchanges pay new users small rewards for signing up, verifying and making a first deposit or trade. The advertised totals are ceilings: most new users collect between $5 and $100, and much of it arrives as trading-fee or futures vouchers rather than crypto you can withdraw. Each offer below is checked against the exchange's own terms.

What new users actually get

The rewards you can withdraw are small. Gemini pays $15 in bitcoin once you trade $100 within 30 days, Coinbase pays about $5 in USDC to new users who join through a referral link, and Kraken's referral gives both people up to $20 in USDG. Crypto.com's sign-up reward is paid in its CRO token and is realistically $5 to $15.

The large numbers come from task ladders. Binance's welcome rewards are worth around $100 but arrive as trading-fee vouchers. Bybit's reaches 100 USDT only if you trade $30,000 within seven days, so about 60 USDT is realistic. KuCoin's randomized package is roughly 100 USDT plus coupons against an advertised 11,000 USDT, and OKX's first step is about $5 against a $400 total.

Vouchers are not cash

Check what form each reward takes. MEXC advertises $10,000 in new-user rewards, but the usable part is roughly 40 USDT in vouchers. Bitget's welcome pack, advertised at up to $6,200, is futures vouchers with little value to a typical new user. BitMart's 13 USDT, CoinEx's 70 USDT and Gate's 118 USDT starter package are all fee or futures vouchers.

A futures voucher lets you open a leveraged position with the exchange's money. You may keep a profit, but you cannot withdraw the voucher itself, so using one means taking leveraged risk to earn a small amount. For most new users that is not worth it.

Who can claim them

Where you live decides which offers you can use. In the United States the list is short: Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken and Crypto.com. Many offshore exchanges do not serve the US, Canada or Singapore at all, and in the UK the FCA's financial promotion rules ban crypto sign-up and referral incentives, so none of these offers is available there. Each card shows whether an offer reaches your country.

Before you sign up

Read four things in the terms: the deadline for each task (often 7 to 30 days from registration), the deposit and trading volume each step needs, the form the reward is paid in, and whether you must use a referral link or code when you register. Most offers can be claimed once per person and cannot be combined with other new-user campaigns.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best crypto sign-up bonus?
For value you can withdraw with little risk, the simple offers win: Gemini's $15 in bitcoin for $100 of trading, Kraken's referral of up to $20 in USDG, and Coinbase's roughly $5. The bigger campaigns at Binance, Bybit and KuCoin are worth more on paper but pay mostly in vouchers and need trading volume.
Can I withdraw a crypto sign-up bonus?
Only the parts paid in crypto or stablecoins, and sometimes only after a holding period or once you reach the minimum withdrawal. Trading-fee vouchers and futures vouchers cannot be withdrawn; you can only use them on the exchange.
Are crypto sign-up bonuses available in the US?
A few are. Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken and Crypto.com run offers for US residents. Most offshore exchanges, including Binance.com, Bybit, KuCoin and OKX's global platform, do not serve US residents.
Why do exchanges advertise bonuses worth thousands of dollars?
The headline adds up every task at its top tier. Reaching it usually needs a very large deposit or trading volume, so the realistic value for a new user is a small fraction of the advertised figure.
Are crypto sign-up bonuses taxable?
In many countries crypto received as a reward counts as income at its value when you receive it, and selling it later can create a capital gain. Rules differ by country, so check how rewards are treated where you live.
