Broker bonuses in France

42 bonuses we have verified as available to traders in France.

If you trade from France and an advert promises a deposit bonus or cashback for opening a forex or CFD account, treat it with caution. The way bonuses are regulated here is strict, and most of what you see promoted to French residents either does not apply to you or comes from a firm you should not be using.

This page explains who regulates trading in France, why most CFD and forex bonuses are off the table, and what kinds of offers a French resident can realistically still claim.

Which bonuses you can claim

The core reason most bonuses are missing for French traders is the EU product intervention regime introduced by ESMA and made permanent in France by the AMF. For retail contracts for difference, providers cannot offer monetary or non-monetary incentives to open or fund an account. That means no deposit-match bonuses, no welcome cash, and no trade-to-unlock rewards tied to CFD or rolling-spot forex products.

The ban is specific to CFDs and similar leveraged products. It does not cover every financial offer in existence. A broker that lets you buy real shares, for example, may run a free-share or fee-rebate promotion on the stock account, because that sits outside the CFD rules. Crypto sign-up rewards from exchanges can also reach French users, since those platforms operate under a separate registration regime rather than the CFD framework.

So the practical picture is this. If an offer is attached to forex or CFD trading and is aimed at French retail clients, a properly regulated firm will not be paying it. If a bonus is attached to a stock-investing account or a crypto platform, it may still be available, subject to that provider's own terms.

Who regulates trading in France

  • Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) amf-france.org ↗

France's securities and markets regulator. It applied national intervention measures from 1 August 2019 that mirror the EU rules and ban bonus-style incentives for retail CFD accounts.

  • Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR) acpr.banque-france.fr ↗

Supervises banks and insurers and works alongside the AMF, including on the shared list of firms authorised to offer investment services in France.

Trading in France

Local currency: EUR

France is a large retail investing market and the working currency is the euro, so most accounts, deposits and any surviving promotions are denominated in EUR. French traders tend to use established brokers that publish their AMF or EU passport status clearly, and many also offer the PEA and ordinary securities accounts that French savers already know.

Be wary of any site that waves around EU regulation as a selling point while offering you a CFD bonus. If the firm were genuinely authorised to serve French retail clients, it would not be allowed to pay that bonus in the first place. An advertised incentive on a leveraged account is a signal that the offer is either not meant for French residents or comes from an operator outside the rules, and the AMF publishes warning lists of unauthorised websites for exactly this reason.

Frequently asked questions

Are forex and CFD bonuses legal in France?
No. Under the AMF's national intervention measures, firms cannot offer monetary or non-monetary bonuses to retail clients to encourage CFD or forex trading. A regulated broker serving French residents will not pay them.
How do I check that a broker is allowed to serve French clients?
Look the firm up through the AMF and the shared register of authorised providers at amf-france.org, and check the AMF's published lists of unauthorised and blacklisted sites.
Can I still get any kind of trading offer as a French resident?
Yes, but usually not on CFDs. Free-share or fee-rebate promotions on real stock accounts, and sign-up rewards from crypto platforms, can still reach you because they fall outside the CFD bonus ban.
Why do I keep seeing CFD bonus adverts if they are banned?
Those adverts usually come from firms not authorised to serve French retail clients, or are targeted at other markets. The presence of a CFD bonus is a reason to be more careful, not less.
