BitMart is a crypto exchange founded in 2017 by Sheldon Xia, registered in the Cayman Islands with regional offices in the US, China and South Korea. Like most large offshore exchanges, it has no tier-one banking or securities regulator overseeing its core global platform. Its US arm registered as a money services business with FinCEN in 2018, which covers anti-money-laundering reporting but is not a securities or trading license.
The exchange lists well over 1,700 coins and more than 1,000 trading pairs, with a user base BitMart puts in the low tens of millions. That places it in the mid-tier of global exchanges by volume, well behind Binance, Coinbase or OKX, but with enough liquidity for most retail altcoin trading.
