About Consorsbank

Who Consorsbank is

Consorsbank started in 1994 as Consors, a Nuremberg discount broker founded by Karl Matthäus Schmidt. It later became part of BNP Paribas and, after operating as Cortal Consors, took the Consorsbank name in December 2014. Today it is the online broker and direct bank brand of BNP Paribas S.A. Niederlassung Deutschland. The product range covers a securities depot (stocks, ETFs, funds, bonds, certificates, warrants, derivatives and crypto ETNs), ETF and stock savings plans, Tagesgeld, Festgeld, a Girokonto, a Junior-Depot for children and RISE Young Trading for customers aged 18 to 30. It also offers UpTrade, a covered-call feature on selected stocks.

Because Consorsbank is a branch of a French credit institution, cash deposits fall under the French statutory deposit guarantee (Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution) up to EUR 100,000 per customer. On top of that, the bank belongs to the voluntary Einlagensicherungsfonds of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken. Securities in the depot belong to the customer, not the bank.

Fees and accounts

Depot custody is free. New customers pay EUR 0.95 per order on Tradegate for the first 12 months. Other orders cost EUR 3.95 to EUR 4.95 plus 0.08% to 0.25% of the order value, with a minimum of EUR 6.95 to EUR 9.95 and a maximum of EUR 29 to EUR 69, depending on whether you sit in the Silver, Gold or Platinum tier (October 2026 price list). That is expensive next to app-based neobrokers once the 12-month Tradegate price ends.

ETF savings plans are free, and stock savings plans are free for the first 12 months. UpTrade costs 1.50% of the premium when it opens and EUR 9.95 if the option is exercised at maturity. New customers get 3.80% a year on Tagesgeld up to EUR 1 million for the first 5 months, and 1.00% on any balance above EUR 1 million.

How the Apple share offer works

The current depot promotion gives one Apple share (WKN 865985), worth about EUR 240 in early October 2026, to new customers who open their first depot through the promotion page, buy or transfer in an UpTrade-eligible stock, pass the Wissens-Check and start an UpTrade by the end of the month after the depot opens. The share is booked the following month with EUR 0 acquisition cost. Applications must go through the promotion page by 30 December 2026, and the depot must be fully opened by 20 January 2027.

The condition to understand is UpTrade itself. It is a covered call: you sell a call option on shares you own and collect a premium, and if the stock ends the 30 to 180 day term above the strike price, your shares are sold at the strike. That caps your upside while you keep the full downside. You also need to own an eligible stock first, which can mean several hundred euros for a single share. The free share counts as taxable income.

Consorsbank runs other promotions too: a Tagesgeld ETF Prämie (about EUR 100 in ETF shares for keeping EUR 50,000 in Tagesgeld), which cannot be combined with the Apple share offer, and Freunde werben, which pays the referrer EUR 30. The EUR 200 and EUR 500 Depotwechsel bonus ended on 17 February 2026, and the depot transfer page no longer lists a bonus.

Who can join

Consorsbank is aimed at private customers living in Germany. The site, the account opening and customer service are in German, and anyone resident elsewhere should check with the bank before applying. The Apple share offer is for private customers in Germany who held no Consorsbank account or depot in the last 6 months, once per person, with a joint account counting once. Minors, RISE Young Trading openings and BNP Paribas Wealth Management clients are excluded.
