BTCC is a Hong Kong based crypto derivatives exchange that started in 2011 as BTC China, one of the oldest names in crypto trading. Its futures platform, with leverage up to 250x, has no tier-1 trading licence: the group holds anti-money-laundering registrations only, including FinCEN and FINTRAC MSB entries in the US and Canada, a Lithuanian crypto register entry for BTCC Lithuania Limited, UAB and a Polish VASP entry for BTCC Poland Limited (RDWW-1524). It suits experienced crypto futures traders who accept offshore risk, and it does not serve mainland China or sanctioned countries.

Risk warning: Trading carries a high risk of losing money, especially with leveraged products such as CFDs. A bonus does not reduce that risk. Only deposit what you can afford to lose.

Who BTCC is

BTCC began in June 2011 as BTC China, an early bitcoin exchange in mainland China. It stopped domestic trading in September 2017, when China shut down local crypto exchanges, and a Hong Kong based investment fund bought it in January 2018. Today it is a Hong Kong based exchange built around derivatives: USDT-margined perpetual futures on more than 350 pairs, spot trading on more than 380 pairs, copy trading, tokenised stocks and gold and silver futures.

Maximum futures leverage is 250x according to a BTCC referral page, and some reviews cite 500x. At 250x a price move of 0.4% against you is enough to wipe out the margin on a position.

Fees and accounts

Spot trading costs 0.20% maker and 0.30% taker. Futures at the base VIP0 level cost 0.03% maker and between 0.048% and 0.06% taker; sources differ on the exact taker rate, so check BTCC's fee page before you trade.

There is no general minimum deposit, but the new-user rewards start at a 200 USDT deposit. You can fund with crypto, with Visa and Mastercard cards, and with Interac in Canada. Accounts without identity verification can withdraw up to 10,000 USDT a day, and KYC is needed for the larger rewards.

How the BTCC rewards work

BTCC advertises up to 30,000 USDT for new users. The part a normal new user collects is about 45 USDT, from a task list on the newcomer page: 10 USDT for registering, 20 USDT for KYC, 10 USDT for a first deposit of 200 USDT (20 USDT for 500 USDT or more) and a 5 USDT coupon for a first futures trade, within 7 days of sign-up. A first copy trade adds 5 USDT, and 2,000 USDT of cumulative deposits within 30 days adds 30 USDT. The rest of the headline is fee credit tied to futures volume in the millions of USDT.

These rewards are trading fund vouchers and fee coupons, not cash. Trading funds act as margin and can absorb losses and funding fees but cannot be withdrawn, while profits made with them can. Moving funds out of the futures account cancels unused rewards, BTCC pages say to keep at least 5% of the deposit in futures, and unused rewards expire.

The referral program pays you 25% of the trading fees a friend pays from their own balance in their first 60 days, up to 500 USDT per friend, in USDT credited to your spot account the next day, so it can be withdrawn. Fees paid with bonus coupons do not count, which keeps the realistic payout per friend at a few USDT. Other BTCC pages advertise 35%, 45%, 50% or 60% commissions, but those carry no published terms.

Safety and regulation

BTCC has no tier-1 licence for its futures business, and we found no Hong Kong SFC licence. What it holds are anti-money-laundering registrations: a US FinCEN Money Services Business registration (sources cite different registration numbers), a Canadian FINTRAC MSB registration (M20713346), a Lithuanian crypto asset service provider register entry for BTCC Lithuania Limited, UAB (company code 305950582) and a Polish virtual currency register entry for BTCC Poland Limited (RDWW-1524). None of these gives you investor protection such as a compensation scheme, and the Polish entry is not MiCA authorisation.

On 21 November 2025 Quebec's Autorité des marchés financiers issued an investor warning against BTCC Lithuania Limited, UAB for soliciting without registration in Quebec, and IOSCO republished it on its I-SCAN alert list. In 2022 BTCC was among 16 foreign exchanges flagged in South Korea for operating without local registration.

Mainland China and sanctioned countries such as North Korea, Iran, Cuba and Syria are restricted. Aggregator lists add more countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan and Ukraine, but we could not confirm BTCC's own list, so check eligibility during sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Does BTCC have a welcome bonus?

Yes. The newcomer task list pays about 45 USDT to a new user who registers, completes KYC, deposits 200 USDT and places a first futures trade within 7 days. It is paid as trading fund vouchers and fee coupons, not cash. The advertised 30,000 USDT needs futures volume in the millions of USDT.

Is there a BTCC promo code?

BTCC uses invitation codes and referral links rather than public promo codes. Some newcomer tasks require signing up through a referral link or code, and the code has to be entered at registration; it cannot be added later.

Is BTCC regulated?

Not by a tier-1 regulator. BTCC holds anti-money-laundering registrations with FinCEN (US), FINTRAC (Canada, M20713346), a Lithuanian crypto register (BTCC Lithuania Limited, UAB) and the Polish virtual currency register (RDWW-1524). Its futures business has no trading licence, and Quebec's AMF has warned about the Lithuanian entity.

How does the BTCC referral work?

You share your invitation link or QR code, and you earn 25% of the trading fees your friend pays from their own balance in their first 60 days, up to 500 USDT per friend. The rebate is paid in USDT to your spot account the next day and can be withdrawn. Fees covered by bonus coupons do not count.
