The reward is paid as fractional shares of a stock you pick and lands in your account within roughly 10 business days. The catch is the headline number. The "up to $1,000" figure is real but vanishingly rare: SoFi's own terms put the odds of the $1,000 grab at 0.026 percent, and aggregator breakdowns of the official odds show about an 85 percent chance of landing the $5 minimum.
A realistic expectation is $5 worth of stock, not $1,000. The reward cannot be redeemed for cash by you, but the shares can be sold on the platform and the proceeds withdrawn, with no turnover or wagering requirement attached.
Eligibility is limited to legal residents of the 50 US states and Washington, D.C., who are at least 18 (or the legal age in their state). The offer is only for members who do not already hold a SoFi self-directed brokerage account; Auto/Robo investing accounts do not qualify.
