About IC Markets

Profile checked against official sources on · How we rate

Company background and regulation

IC Markets was incorporated in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 and has grown into one of the largest retail CFD brokers by traded volume. The group operates through several legal entities, and which one you contract with depends on where you live. Australian clients sign up with International Capital Markets Pty Ltd, which holds AFSL 335692 from ASIC. Clients in the EEA contract with IC Markets (EU) Ltd, authorized by CySEC under license 362/18.

Most clients elsewhere are onboarded by Raw Trading Ltd, trading as IC Markets Global, which holds Securities Dealer Licence SD018 from the Seychelles FSA. The group also operates a Bahamas entity regulated by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SIA-F214). The offshore entities carry lighter regulatory protections than the ASIC and CySEC entities, which matters for compensation schemes and dispute resolution. IC Markets does not accept US clients under any entity.

Platforms and markets

IC Markets supports four trading platforms: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and TradingView. The TradingView integration runs through cTrader, so you need a cTrader Raw account to place trades from TradingView charts. All platforms are available on desktop, web and mobile, and the broker permits scalping, hedging and automated trading.

The market range on the global entity covers 61 currency pairs, 25 index CFDs, more than 20 commodity CFDs, over 2,100 share CFDs from the ASX, Nasdaq and NYSE, a small set of bond CFDs, 21 cryptocurrency CFDs and a handful of futures-based products. Everything is traded as a CFD, so you never own the underlying asset.

Accounts and pricing

The core lineup is a Standard account with no commission and spreads from about 0.8 pips, a Raw Spread account on MetaTrader with spreads from 0.0 pips plus a commission of $3.50 per lot per side, and a cTrader Raw account charging $3.00 per 100,000 traded per side. The global entity also lists Raw Pro tiers that cut commission further with $5,000 and $100,000 minimums.

IC Markets quotes $200 as the standard opening deposit on some regional sites, while its global account overview lists no fixed minimum for the core accounts, a genuine regional difference rather than an error. Raw pricing is the whole pitch here: IC Markets built its reputation on tight spreads and fast execution for active traders rather than on promotions.

What an IC Markets bonus actually looks like

If you search for an IC Markets deposit bonus, set expectations first. The broker's own help center states that it does not offer deposit bonuses, and its ASIC and CySEC entities cannot legally offer trading incentives to retail clients. There is no standing welcome bonus, no-deposit bonus or permanent deposit match anywhere at IC Markets.

What does exist is a set of programs and occasional regional campaigns run through the Seychelles entity, and they rotate rather than run permanently. Official terms published by Raw Trading Ltd show a 10% deposit bonus promotion that ran in 2024 for residents of eight Southeast Asian countries, and an Invite and Win referral campaign that paid referees a $20 welcome bonus after a $200 deposit and three round-turn lots. These campaigns are time-limited, region-restricted and can be withdrawn at any time, so treat any specific figure you see on an affiliate site as historical until you confirm a live campaign on IC Markets' own pages.

Beyond that, IC Markets runs an ongoing partner program for introducing brokers and affiliates, and some IBs share their commission with referred clients as rebates. Active traders can also qualify for free VPS hosting by meeting monthly volume requirements on forex and metals. None of these are deposit matches, but they are the realistic answers to what an IC Markets bonus means in practice.

Verification, funding and withdrawals

Account opening follows standard KYC rules: proof of identity and proof of address dated within 180 days, checked before the account is approved. Deposits are free and arrive instantly through cards and major e-wallets, while bank wires take longer. IC Markets does not charge its own withdrawal fees, though third-party bank fees on international wires are the customer's responsibility.

Regional entity differences matter more than most traders expect. EU clients get negative balance protection and ESMA leverage caps of 1:30 on major pairs, Australian clients get similar ASIC caps, and the Seychelles and Bahamas entities offer much higher leverage with fewer safeguards. Check which entity your account sits under before funding, because it determines your protections, your leverage and whether promotional offers can legally reach you.

Frequently asked questions

Does IC Markets offer a deposit bonus?

Not as a standing offer. IC Markets' help center states it does not offer deposit bonuses, and its ASIC and CySEC entities are barred from giving retail trading incentives. The Seychelles entity has run short regional campaigns, such as a 10% deposit bonus for Southeast Asian residents in 2024, but there is no permanent bonus anyone can claim, and past campaign terms should not be assumed current.

Is IC Markets regulated?

Yes, through four entities: International Capital Markets Pty Ltd under ASIC (AFSL 335692), IC Markets (EU) Ltd under CySEC (362/18), Raw Trading Ltd under the Seychelles FSA (SD018), and a Bahamas entity under the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SIA-F214). Your protections depend on which entity holds your account.

What is the minimum deposit at IC Markets?

It depends on the entity. Some regional sites quote $200 as the standard opening deposit, while the global entity's account overview lists no fixed minimum for the Standard, Raw Spread and cTrader Raw accounts. The Raw Pro tiers require $5,000 and $100,000 respectively.

What platforms does IC Markets support?

MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and TradingView. Trading through TradingView requires a cTrader Raw account, since the integration runs on cTrader's infrastructure.

How does the IC Markets referral program work?

IC Markets has run referral campaigns through its global entity in which the referred friend opens an account, deposits a minimum amount and completes a set trading volume within a deadline. In the official Invite and Win campaign, referees received a $20 bonus after a $200 deposit and three round-turn lots. Terms and availability change by region and campaign, and specific past campaigns have expired.

Does IC Markets accept US clients?

No. IC Markets does not onboard US residents under any of its entities.
