Who ATFX is

ATFX is a forex and CFD brand trading since 2017 and shared by a group of companies licensed in the UK (FCA), Australia (ASIC), Cyprus (CySEC), Mauritius (FSC), the Seychelles, the UAE and Hong Kong, among others. The company reports more than 500,000 clients worldwide; that figure is ATFX's own.

In South Africa ATFX entered by buying Khwezi Financial Services in 2023. That firm now operates as AT Global Markets SA (Pty) Ltd, licensed by the FSCA as an OTC derivatives provider (FSP 44816), and it is the entity that runs the 100% bonus. Its trade agreement makes it the principal and counterparty to your trades. ATFX also uses a second structure under the ATFX Africa name: AT Global Capital Markets Africa (FSP 55142) acts only as an intermediary that places clients with the Mauritius entity. Which company you contract with depends on how you sign up, so check the entity named on your agreement.

Accounts, costs and protections

South African accounts run on MetaTrader 5. The Standard account (minimum R100) has spreads from 1.8 pips with no commission, ECN (R500) has spreads from 0.1 plus $7 per lot, and Pro (R5,000) has spreads from 1.0. Leverage goes up to 1:500, margin call is at 100% and stop-out at 30%. ATFX charges no deposit or withdrawal fees; funding is by EFT, card or bank deposit, and withdrawals take one to three working days. Accounts dormant for six months pay R30 a month.

Two protections are thinner than the marketing suggests. The South African trade agreement makes you liable for a negative balance caused by abnormal market conditions, so there is no promise of negative balance protection. And the USD 1 million Lloyd's insurance ATFX advertises covers clients of the Mauritius entity, not explicitly those of the South African one. Client funds are held in a segregated third-party account.

How the 100% deposit bonus works

The promotion runs until December 30, 2026. Click Join in the client portal, and ATFX adds trading credit equal to 100% of each deposit, up to R90,000 or USD 5,000 in total, on MT5 Standard accounts. The credit is tradable and absorbs losses as margin, but it is not withdrawable until you trade enough volume. The definition in the terms, and ATFX's worked examples, set that at 1 standard lot round trip per USD 100 of credit (about 1 lot per R1,800), with a minimum of 4 lots; one clause reads as 4 lots per USD 100, so get the figure confirmed in writing before relying on it.

The traps are strict. Any withdrawal or internal transfer before you finish the volume cancels the whole credit. If your equity falls below the credit amount, the credit is removed and the terms say you forfeit your initial deposit. All credit expires 180 days after you join. Only forex, metals, commodities, indices and futures CFDs count; crypto and share CFDs do not, and trades held two minutes or less, grid, martingale and hedging strategies are banned.

Who can join

The bonus is for verified individual retail clients aged 18 or over, one account per person; joint and corporate accounts are excluded. The terms mention residents of South Africa, other African countries and international clients funding in ZAR or USD, but the offering entity is licensed only in South Africa, so we list it as a South African offer. ATFX can change or end the promotion without notice.

Pros

  • +FSCA-licensed local entity with ZAR accounts and free deposits and withdrawals
  • +100% credit on every deposit, up to R90,000, for most of the promotion's life
  • +Low R100 minimum on the Standard account
  • +Lot requirement is moderate if the 1-lot-per-USD-100 definition applies
  • +Part of a group with FCA, ASIC and CySEC licensed entities

  • −Any withdrawal before the volume is done cancels the entire credit
  • −If equity falls below the credit, the terms say you forfeit your deposit
  • −The lot requirement is written two different ways in the terms
  • −No negative balance protection in the South African trade agreement

Frequently asked questions

Is the ATFX 100% deposit bonus real?

Yes, through ATFX South Africa (AT Global Markets SA, FSP 44816), until December 30, 2026. Click Join in the client portal and ATFX credits 100% of each deposit up to R90,000 or USD 5,000. It is trading credit, not cash, until you trade the required lots.

How many lots must I trade to withdraw the ATFX bonus?

The terms define it as 1 standard lot round trip per USD 100 of credit, about 1 lot per R1,800, with at least 4 lots in total. One clause is worded as 4 lots per USD 100, so ask ATFX support to confirm in writing.

Can I withdraw money while the ATFX bonus is active?

No. A withdrawal or internal transfer before you complete the lots cancels the whole credit, and open positions can be stopped out as a result.

Is ATFX regulated in South Africa?

AT Global Markets SA (Pty) Ltd holds an FSCA licence as an OTC derivatives provider (FSP 44816). ATFX Africa (FSP 55142) is a separate intermediary that places clients with ATFX's Mauritius entity, so check which company is named on your agreement.

What is the minimum deposit at ATFX South Africa?

R100 for the Standard account, R500 for ECN and R5,000 for Pro. The bonus applies to MT5 Standard accounts and sets no separate minimum deposit.
